Congratulations! Expecting a new baby, whether it’s your first or your fourth is such an incredible time and I am so glad you are choosing to document it! Here are some things to help you prepare for your upcoming maternity session.

First up - location
The first thing we will do is decide on the perfect location for your maternity photos. Time of year will play a part of this, with summer easier to schedule on the beach! Don’t discount beautiful winter maternity photos however!
Outdoor locations include beautiful fields in Whitby and the beach in Courtice. If you prefer the look of studio sessions I love the Vintage Loft Studio in Whitby and the Hidden Gem Studio in Bowmanville (studio fees apply).

Next up - think about wardrobe.
Once we have a location chosen you can start to think about what you want to wear. I want to make this as easy as possible for you, so you are welcome to use any of my client dresses (and you can choose more than one for some variety!). I bring the dresses that catch your eye to your session, as well as an outdoor change tent if we are doing an outdoor session. These are dresses that fit a variety of body sizes that photograph beautifully.
Another option instead of a dress (or in addition to) is to capture some more intimate images. These can include wearing a bralette and underwear, either on its own or with jeans or an oversized shirt or sweater. Whether indoors or outside, these images add some beautiful variety to your gallery and are a wonderful way to celebrate your pregnancy.

Don't forget about hair and makeup!
This session is all about you and how absolutely beautiful you are. Take the time to have your hair and make-up done, even if it is just going to your usual salon for a wash and a blow-dry. This will ensure you feel prepared and comfortable and ready to rock your session!

What to expect during your session
Your session itself will be laid back and fun. You can count on me to be your biggest cheerleader, guiding you into flattering poses and making sure you know how stunning you will look! The biggest thing to do is just relax and have fun. Movement is key so I’ll guide you in different ways to move to achieve beautiful, natural portraits.

What to expect after your session
Following your session I’ll send you a few images within 48 hours – I know the anticipation of waiting for your gallery! Your full gallery will be sent to you within three weeks of your session and you will be able to download and print your images. If you are looking for some support in printing your images please reach out!
