Many people love the look of in-home newborn sessions. They are often more relaxed, authentic, and the focus is on the connection between parents and their new baby. But what if you don’t have a swoon-worthy house? Or what if the arrival of your little one has left you with something to be desire in the cleaning department (super relatable)? The space
This session took place at a beautiful farmhouse near Peterborough, Ontario. Light floods into all the rooms, making it the perfect spot for a newborn photographer to create some magic. Simple furnishings make sure the emphasis is on you and your little one.
What to wear
Always take into account the space when planning your session. Your photographer will help guide you through this process. I have a full collection of client dresses available to use in your session (see here). For this farmhouse session we kept the clothing very light and neutral toned. This complemented the simple backdrop and created a beautiful, timeless feel.
How to find a space
This beautiful farmhouse is listed on airbnb (see listing). It can require a little big of digging to find hosts willing to rent for a few hours, but when you do the payout is amazing! It is helpful if you are looking in off-season months, or even mid-week, when the property might otherwise sit empty. Things to look for when doing some sleuthing including large windows, simple decor, and a variety of spaces.
