Where to elope in Ontario

Eloping is such a deeply personal choice. It’s an amazing way to get married in a way that has meaning to you and your partner. We eloped and looking back I am amazed at how completely stress free and relaxed the entire day was. Eloping in Ontario can be as adventurous or as relaxing as you’d like it to be. There are resorts that take care of every last detail or you can choose to hike out to a gorgeous lookout and celebrate with some champagne overlooking a lake. You can elope with just your partner, or bring those people you couldn’t imagine doing it without. Here are just a few of the amazing places you can elope to in Ontario.

Algonquin Provincial Park

There are so many options open to you if you are looking to elope in Algonquin Park. The vast beauty of this park allows breathtaking views in all seasons and multiple options. Whether you are adventurous want want to hike out to a gorgeous lookout or if you’re wanting more creature comforts, eloping in Algonquin Park is an amazing option. There are quite a few resorts including Algonquin Eco Lodge, Killarny Lodge, and Bartlett Lodge , just to name a few. Imagine waking up in the morning to the sound of waves on the beach, wind through the trees, then hiking to the most beautiful lookout to say your vows. Follow that up with a roaring campfire and a romantic lodge – I think that sounds like a little bit of heaven.

Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County took my break away the first time I visited. The huge sandy beaches, the tall vistas overlooking Lake Ontario, the wineries – Prince Edward County is a perfect spot to elope and get pampered. Whether you are planning an intimate wedding or an elopement with just the two of you, Carriage Lane Elopements takes care of everything. Located just East of Brighton, couples can chose to elope indoors, on the dock, or at one of the beautifully created ceremony sites. Everything is taken care of so you just need to bring yourselves! Compass Rose Suites is a beautiful venue for smaller weddings (40-100 guests) but it also is a beautiful venue for elopements. Say your vows in the stunning glass greenhouse and spend the weekend in one of the three gorgeous suites on the 100 acre property. Lake on the Mountain Resort has stunning views over the Bay of Quinte. The nearby Lake on the Mountain is fascinating as it is a flowing, freshwater lake 62 meters above Ontario. Lake on the Mountain Resort includes self-catering cabin rentals and a craft brewery, and can accommodate more traditional weddings of up to 100 guests. Imagine standing high above the shores of Lake Ontario saying your vows, then retreating to your own cabin for the weekend, exploring the local beaches and wineries.

Niagara-on-the-Lake

Possibly one of the most popular places to elope to in Ontario is Niagara-on-the-Lake. This touristy town is incredibly romantic, home to horse-drawn carriages, beautiful streets for strolling, and many local wineries. Niagara Falls is a short drive away, and you get to experience the excitement without the over-the-top tourism that has come to Niagara Falls itself. Vintage Hotels is a collection of three of the most luxurious hotels in Niagara-on-the-Lake (The Prince of Wales, Queen’s Landing and The Pillar and Post), each with their own unique feel. Vintage Hotels features intimate wedding packages and elopements and their professional packages take care of all the details.
